According to Iran stone news agency ,The “Skopje East Gate” company has published an invitation to tender bids for technical projects for the future multi-purpose complex covering more than 250,000 square meters to be built in the area of what is now the Skopje fairgrounds. The investment amounts to more than 300 million euros and foresees building a mall, a residential complex, a business center, a school, a small stadium and sports fields. The project is headed by the Albanian Balfin Group, which has purchased 155,000 square meters of land about a kilometer and a half from the center of Skopje. The Balfin Group expects to develop what will be the largest private investment of its type in Macedonia today, which in addition to the mall will also have an office tower and housing units.
It is expected to be completed within five to seven years. The Balfin Group is one of the largest companies in the region, with an investment portfolio that includes shares in shopping centers, in real estate development projects (both commercial and residential) and in numerous retail businesses like the Neptun electronics chain stores and Jumbo supermarkets quite common in the area.
